“My favourite coffee is Finca La Falda Caturra Chiroso, Fully Washed, due to its unique varietal that lends itself to cupping similarly to Ethiopian coffees. It’s a good example of the diversity of taste profiles of coffee that can be found in Colombia. Jose Rueda is a great example of a small holder farm who, through diligence and belief in the value of specialty coffee has manage to increase and improve the livelihood of his community and family.“
Born in Singapore, bred in Melbourne, and now bringing his backpack full of specialty coffee back from what some might call, the “Mecca” of specialty coffee, Adryll is no stranger the coffee-loving world. Planting his roots in Singapore again, he has developed a deep understanding of this spectrum of the industry in the region while accruing valuable experience across various fields within the specialty coffee sector.
A waiter, barista, technician, roaster, coffee buyer, he’s done it all at some point. Just ask him anything, he’ll probably have an answer, or he’ll know someone that has an answer.
His greatest accomplishment is impacting people’s decisions in the specialty coffee world, and moving in with the Mercanta family is the perfect fit to take that up a notch: nothing like shipping a few tonnes of delicious coffee to someone who deserves it.
Adryll loves travelling and building genuine relationships. Importantly, he finds it rewarding when he tells the right stories to the right people to get them to fall in love with coffee (and hopefully Mercanta). He’s looking forward to the challenge of getting coffee people to fall in love with coffee, again (and preferably with Mercanta’s coffees).
