Garnica is a cross of Mundo Novo and Caturra bred in Mexico. This cultivar was developed by the Mexican Institute of Coffee (INMECAFE) in 1960. It is a high-yielding medium-size plant and it represents 5% of the production in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. It is less common in other states. Garnica is closely related to the Catuai with similar cup quality.
